1st May
International Labour/Worker's Day
The first day of May is observed as International Labor Day, honoring laborers everywhere. On this day, we honor laborers and workers and march for their rights in opposition to exploitation. It came about as a result of the eight-hour labor union campaign.
In the US, this day began as a union campaign in the late 1800s. Following the adoption of a resolution by the Marxist International Socialist Congress, which demanded that workers not be forced to work more than eight hours, it became an occasion and is still observed on May 1 as Labour Day. It respects people's efforts and recognizes their accomplishments everywhere. The first May Day was observed in 1890. The International Congress of Socialist Parties in Europe proclaimed May 1 as a "workers day of international unity and solidarity for workers in Paris" on July 14, 1988.
In India, the inaugural Labour Day was observed in Chennai in 1923. It was also in India at same time
